If you're looking for a volunteer role with increased accessibility, look for listings on this page under the category  “Accessibility”. These postings will give you an overview of the needs the specific role can accommodate.

For example, the role may include tasks that are suitable for people with reduced hearing, involve limited interaction with the public, or take place in an area accessible to wheelchair users.

You’ll also be able to see whether the role offers a more flexible structure or adjustable shift lengths. If flexibility is important to you, please discuss the details directly with your team leader.

At Roskilde Festival, you’re rarely alone – even if you don’t know many people when you arrive. The festival has a special atmosphere that makes it easy to strike up conversations and connect with others.

It’s the same when you volunteer! You become part of a unique community – both during your shifts and while enjoying everything the festival has to offer.

If you’re having trouble finding someone to hang out with, try asking the other volunteers on your team if they’d like to explore the festival city together. And remember, you’re always welcome to join the larger volunteer community in Volunteers’ Village, where you’ll find community-driven activities!

Roskilde Festival is an international festival, and many of our volunteer teams offer volunteer roles for English speakers. You can see in the individual volunteer position if the look for Danish-speaking or English-speaking volunteers.

If you cannot find a volunteer role for English speakers, you are welcome to contact our volunteer recruitment team at volunteer@roskilde-festival.dk. Then we will do our best to find a volunteer role that matches you.

Requirements for international volunteers

If you are from a country other than Denmark, you are very welcome to get involved and join our volunteer community. You must have permission to stay in Denmark to be a volunteer at the festival.

During the stay in Denmark - regardless of whether the stay requires a visa or not or is based on a residence permit - unpaid voluntary work can be carried out without applying for a work permit. The voluntary work must have a non-profit purpose, which must be stated in the organization's rules. Roskilde Festival is 100% non-profit - you can read more about that here

Working unpaid means that you may not receive anything for your work in the form of salary or individual benefits. When volunteering at Roskilde Festival, you get access to the whole festival and catering in connection with your shifts, which are considered small benefits that enable your volunteering, and which apply to all volunteers. As long as you are legally in Denmark, you can therefore volunteer at Roskilde Festival.

If you are in doubt as to whether a person can legally go to Denmark and do voluntary work, you can contact the Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI). You can also check whether your entry into Denmark requires a visa or not by contacting the website of the Danish embassy in your home country, where you can find information about visas.

If you have any questions about being an international volunteer at Roskilde Festival, you are welcome to send us an email at volunteer@roskilde-festival.dk

You'll receive a meal and something to drink during an 8-hour shift — either from the stall you're working in or through a meal voucher you can use at one of the festival’s food stalls.

If you have many short shifts during the festival, you may not be guaranteed a meal for every shift. If you're unsure about the food arrangements during your shifts, please contact your team leader.

Meals are not provided when you're off duty, but you're welcome to bring your own food, and we have campfire areas where you can prepare meals. You can also buy ready-made food from our stalls.

Roskilde Festival has 27,000 volunteers who take on a wide range of roles. That means there are plenty of opportunities to find something that matches your interests!

Use the categories in the volunteer listings to find a role that matches your interests:

Hospitality & Safety roles, you help create a safe and welcoming environment for guests as they move around the festival site. For example, you might work as safety staff near the stages, check wristbands and access at the gates, or act as a service host in one of the camping areas.

Stalls, Food & Bars roles focus on teamwork, service, and lots of guest interaction. The pace is often high, and you're a key part of creating a great vibe. You might, for example, serve guests at a food stall – helping with both cooking and dishwashing. You could also work the register in a merchandise booth or be a bartender at one of the bars.

Construction & Service you'll be part of the team that makes sure the festival site is spot on. You might help set up stages, put up fences, hand out rented tents, pavilions, and camping chairs, or take care of other practical tasks, maintenance, or logistics behind the scenes.

Office & IT roles are typically behind the scenes and crucial for keeping everything on track. Perfect for those who thrive on structure, overview, and administrative tasks. You could volunteer at the information center, where you’ll help answer participants' questions, take on a HR role for a team, or be part of the IT support crew.

Other roles, you’ll find opportunities that are less frequently offered – often niche tasks or roles requiring specific skills. For example, you could help curate art and activism, work as a stagehand, or be a content producer for the festival’s social media.

All volunteers can apply to sleep in Volunteer Camping, where there is room to set up a tent with friends who are also volunteers.

You can sign up from 1 May. You register for Volunteer Camping through your People profile.

The area is located in the green areas around Darup Sports Center at the western end of the festival site. Here you can get a good night's sleep, free hot showers, charge your phone, and you also have the opportunity to buy food and drink.

The area is for volunteers who value a quiet place to sleep at all times of the day. Therefore, it is not allowed to play music, make noise or play ball games in Volunteer Camping.

The area is popular for volunteers, and we would like to make room for as many as possible. Therefore, it is also not permitted to bring pavilions or oversails. You can bring a tent to spend the nights in, but you can not bring a caravan or similar.

If you want to secure a place with your friends who are not volunteers, you of course have the option to find a free place yourself in the regular camping areas when you arrive.

Illness

Should you fall ill during the festival and are therefore prevented from attending your shift, you must contact your team leader immediately. Together you will find a solution either by exchanging your shift with someone from your team or withdrawing your wristband and sending you safely home from the festival site so that a new volunteer can take over your shifts.

No-show

If you're delayed or unable to show up for your shift, you must contact your team leader immediately!

If you miss a shift without a valid reason and without prior agreement with your leader, Roskilde Festival reserves the right to revoke your wristband and charge a fee of 4,500 DKK. You will also lose the opportunity to volunteer at the festival for the next three years.

As a volunteer, you should expect to contribute a minimum of 24 hours between Wednesday, 1 July 2026, and Sunday, 5 July 2026, or a minimum of 32 hours spread across the entire festival period.

Hours are typically divided into 8‑hour shifts, but shorter or longer shifts may occur depending on the volunteer role.

Some roles also offer shifts that take place before and/or after the festival. If the work falls outside the festival week, it will be stated in the volunteer posting.

On some teams, it's also possible to volunteer for just one day by contributing 8 hours of work in exchange for access to the festival that day.

If you want to get more involved, you can either join as a festival co-creator in the months leading up to the festival and contribute 100 hours – or you can become a year-round volunteer and stay engaged all year. Find the available year-round roles here.

You must attend all your shifts at the agreed time, and you must not consume or be under the influence of alcohol or euphoric substances when you are on shift. This may result in expulsion from the festival and Roskilde Festival may charge a fee of DKK 4,500.

All volunteers between the ages of 15 and 17 are assigned to a team with an adult team leader and are never on duty without an adult. The team leader can register a phone number of a guardian.

We follow special working environment regulations for volunteers under the age of 18. For instance, they must not work at night, serve alcohol and tobacco or carry out security duties.
