Anyone who wants to go to the festival can become a volunteer! The only requirement to be a volunteer is that you must be 15 years old at the start of the festival. For volunteer tasks that involve selling spirits and beer and working with security, for example as service staff in the camping area or audience security, you must be 18 years old. Some tasks may require you to be 21 years old.

There are 30,000 volunteers at Roskilde Festival, and they solve a wide variety of tasks. As a volunteer, you become part of a team. Here you meet new people through the tasks you are involved in.

It should be safe to go to the festival. If you have questions about accessibility at Roskilde Festival, you can read more here or contact our accessibility team at accessibility@roskilde-festival.dk.

All volunteers can apply to sleep in Volunteer Camping, where there is room to set up a tent with friends who are also volunteers.

You can sign up from 1 May. You register for Volunteer Camping through your People profile.

The area is located in the green areas around Darup Sports Center at the western end of the festival site. Here you can get a good night's sleep, free hot showers, charge your phone, and you also have the opportunity to buy food and drink.

The area is for volunteers who value a quiet place to sleep at all times of the day. Therefore, it is not allowed to play music, make noise or play ball games in Volunteer Camping.

The area is popular for volunteers, and we would like to make room for as many as possible. Therefore, it is also not permitted to bring pavilions or oversails. You can bring a tent to spend the nights in, but you can not bring a caravan or similar.

If you want to secure a place with your friends who are not volunteers, you of course have the option to find a free place yourself in the regular camping areas when you arrive.

As a volunteer, you typically have to put in an effort of 32 hours spread over the entire festival period or 24 hours during the last four days of music, which run from Wednesday to Saturday, when all stages are open.

On some teams, it is possible to get a senior role, which is an offer for volunteers aged 65+, where, if necessary, you can just put in 75 percent of the hours you would otherwise have to. If it is not clear from the volunteer posting whether the team offers a senior role, you can ask the contact person.

On some teams it is also possible to volunteer for a single day by putting in an effort of eight hours and gaining access to the festival on that day.

The number of hours can be seen under each volunteer role.

If you want to get involved further, you can be an all-year volunteer and put in a minimum of 100 hours.

You must be at least 15 years by the beginning of the festival. Special rules and working environment regulations apply to volunteers under the age of 18. Some volunteer positions may have a higher age limit, e.g. 18 or 21 years old, in which case it will appear in the volunteer posting.

At Roskilde Festival we have many volunteers between the ages of 15 and 17, and our focus is on creating a safe space for all volunteers, especially young volunteers. All volunteers between the ages of 15 and 17 are assigned to a team with an adult team leader and are never on duty without an adult. The team leader can register a phone number of a guardian.

We follow special working environment regulations for volunteers under the age of 18. For instance, they must not work at night, serve alcohol and tobacco or carry out security duties.

If you are +65 years old and would like to join a volunteer team, you have the opportunity to apply for a role with senior terms.

"Senior terms" means that the hourly effort is 75% of the required hours for standard volunteers. That means that a 32-hours role becomes a 24-hours role spread over the entire festival period or that a 24-hours role becomes 18-hours spread over the last four days of the festival.

Please note that not all teams offer senior roles. To find a team that offers a senior role, click on the "Senior terms" category under volunteer postings.

If you are from a country other than Denmark, you are very welcome to get involved and join our volunteer community. You must have permission to stay in Denmark to be a volunteer at the festival.

During the stay in Denmark - regardless of whether the stay requires a visa or not or is based on a residence permit - unpaid voluntary work can be carried out without applying for a work permit. The voluntary work must have a non-profit purpose, which must be stated in the organization's rules. Roskilde Festival is 100% non-profit - you can read more about that here

Working unpaid means that you may not receive anything for your work in the form of salary or individual benefits. When volunteering at Roskilde Festival, you get access to the whole festival and catering in connection with your shifts, which are considered small benefits that enable your volunteering, and which apply to all volunteers. As long as you are legally in Denmark, you can therefore volunteer at Roskilde Festival.

If you are in doubt as to whether a person can legally go to Denmark and do voluntary work, you can contact the Agency for International Recruitment and Integration (SIRI). You can also check whether your entry into Denmark requires a visa or not by contacting the website of the Danish embassy in your home country, where you can find information about visas.

If you have any questions about being an international volunteer at Roskilde Festival, you are welcome to send us an email at volunteer@roskilde-festival.dk

As a rule of thumb, there is always a meal and something to drink during an eight-hour shift. If you have many short shifts during the festival, you are not guaranteed a meal on each shift. If in doubt, please contact your team leader.

Your team either has food available in your area or you get a voucher that can be used in selected food stalls at the festival. There is no free meal when you are not on duty, but you are welcome to bring your own food, and we have fire pits where you can prepare the food. In addition, you have the opportunity to buy ready-made food in our stalls.
